Mulund traffic halted for Metro-4 steel span installation at Sonapur junction

A 56-metre steel span was recently installed at the Sonapur junction in Mulund as part of the ongoing Metro-4 construction between Wadala and Kasarvadavali. The heavy-duty operation, carried out in two phases using 500-tonne cranes and multi-axle trailers, required complete traffic closure at the GMLR junction over two nights. Commuters were diverted through alternative routes including Village Road, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Road, and Subhash Nagar Road. BMC cracks down on construction sites over air pollution and AQI compliance

NHAI issues SOP to reduce air pollution from highway construction in Delhi-NCR

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) issued a detailed Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) this week for field offices across Delhi-NCR, covering both completed and ongoing highway stretches under its jurisdiction. The SOP lays out several actions: mechanised road sweeping, covering construction materials during transit, continuous water-sprinkling and use of anti-smog guns at construction sites, planting vegetation along medians using the Miyawaki method, and monitoring of air-quality indices as per the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) and pollution control boards. Delhi Airport to expand annual passenger capacity to 12.5 crore by 2030

Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has announced plans to expand the annual passenger-handling capacity of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from 10.5 crore to about 12.5 crore by around 2029-30. The development plan includes constructing a new Pier E at Terminal 3, adding more aircraft parking bays, and decongesting Terminal 1. DIAL's management expects the current capacity to reach its limit within the next three to four years.
