Synopsis

Work on Patna Metro's priority corridor, part of Corridor II, has reached its final stage. Three stations are operational, while Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak are being completed on a high-priority schedule. Critical systems like track laying, signalling, and electrification are under round-the-clock monitoring. The 6.5?km elevated section, once operational, will connect five key stations, easing traffic in the city. Simultaneously, preparatory work continues for Corridor I and Corridor II, which together will form a 31?km network with 24 stations, combining elevated and underground stretches across Patna.

The Patna Metro's priority corridor is entering its final phase, with Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and Patliputra ISBT stations already operational. Construction on the remaining two stations, Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak, is progressing rapidly under strict supervision.

Critical activities including track laying, third-rail installation, signalling, and other system integrations are being monitored round the clock. Officials confirmed that the 6.5?km elevated stretch of Corridor II from Patliputra ISBT to Malahi Pakri is on track for commissioning soon. Once fully operational, this section will connect five major stations and improve commuter movement, easing traffic congestion in the city.

Alongside this, preparatory work for the broader Metro network continues. Corridor I, running from Danapur to Khemnichak, will span 17.9?km elevated and 10.5?km underground, including stations like Rukkanpura, Raja Bazaar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, and Patna Junction. Corridor II, from Patna Junction to ISBT, includes a 7.9?km underground stretch serving stations such as Akashvani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, Patna University, and Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. Together, the full network will cover around 31?km with 24 stations.

The priority corridor has already been operational since early October, handling up to 7,000 passengers daily, with weekend usage reaching 11,000. Officials stressed that while speed is important, quality and safety remain non-negotiable, and the project is being closely monitored to ensure the corridor is fully ready for launch.
