Synopsis

RITES has received the CEAI National Award for Engineering Innovation and Sustainability for its work on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL). The company managed alignment design, surveys and bridge design for 20 bridges along the 272-km route. It also completed technical audits for 25 bridges, including the Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge, and installed structural health monitoring systems on two major bridges. The award was presented to the company's senior leadership during the CEAI Annual Conference and Awards 2025 held in New Delhi.

RITES has been recognised by the Consulting Engineers Association of India (CEAI) with its National Award in the Engineering Innovation and Sustainability category for work executed on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL). The recognition was announced during the CEAI Annual Conference and Awards 2025 in New Delhi, where senior officials from the company accepted the honour.

The USBRL is a 272-km rail corridor designed to improve connectivity across the Himalayan region, and it is considered one of the most challenging railway projects in India because of its terrain and high-altitude engineering requirements. RITES provided consultancy services for this project, which included alignment design and a detailed survey carried out across difficult landscapes. The company also handled the design and proof-checking of 20 bridges that form an essential part of the route.

Along with its design responsibilities, RITES conducted technical audits for 25 bridges. These included the Chenab Bridge, known as the world's highest railway arch bridge, and the Anji Khad Bridge, another important structure in the region. To support long-term monitoring and safety, RITES installed structural health monitoring systems on two major bridges, enabling the continuous assessment of structural performance.

The CEAI Award was presented to Director Technical Dr. Deepak Tripathi and Executive Director Lalit Kumar, reflecting the organisation's acknowledgement of RITES's contribution to engineering quality, safety measures and sustainable practices in a complex rail project.

This award also adds to the company's earlier achievements in the USBRL project, which has been under development for several years and continues to be a major priority for improving transport connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
