Delhi PWD approves new foot overbridges to boost pedestrian safety in high-traffic zones

The Public Works Department (Delhi) (PWD) recently authorised the construction of five new foot overbridges (FOBs) at key locations across Delhi to enhance pedestrian safety and ease vehicular congestion. The planned sites include near the exit of Old Delhi Railway Station, at Uttam Nagar East Terminal, by the Hanuman Mandir on Ring Road, at the Mehrauli-Mahipalpur signal near TPM Church, and adjacent to Kendriya Vidyalaya JNU on Vedant Deshika Marg. A feasibility study has also been commissioned to assess further pedestrian crossing needs.Read more

Jaipur begins construction of elevated road with traffic-management plan in place

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has initiated construction on a newly approved elevated road linking the Gopalpura railway overbridge to Gurhar ki Thadi, and a detailed traffic-management strategy has been put into action. Work will progress in 125-metre segments to minimise disruption, with service lanes temporarily merged into the main road so that the available width reduces by about five metres at most. Two pilings are already underway at key locations; full elevated road construction will follow once piling is complete. Delhi Jal Board starts work on 10 decentralised sewage plants to clean Yamuna

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has begun setting up ten decentralised sewage treatment plants (DSTPs) across various areas of the city to help clean the Yamuna River. These smaller plants, located mainly along drains and villages lacking infrastructure, are expected to add around 30 million gallons per day (MGD) of sewage treatment capacity. IRFC to extend INR 20,000 crore funding support for Vadhvan Port project

Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd (IRFC) will provide funding support of up to INR 20,000 crore for the Vadhvan Port project in Maharashtra. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the funding is expected to be signed during the upcoming India Maritime Week in Mumbai. The deep-draft port, with a proposed cargo handling capacity of 298 million tonnes per year and 24.5 million TEUs, is estimated to cost around INR 76,220 crore.
