Northern Railway's Jammu Division has allotted multi-purpose stalls at key stations including Katra, Pathankot, Sopore and Anantnag through a large e-auction. The digital auction, led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, generated the division's highest non-fare revenue and is expected to bring in around INR 2.80 crore over the next five years. The upcoming stalls will offer daily-use items and travel essentials, with officials highlighting the transparent process and its role in supporting local businesses while improving commuter convenience.
Northern Railway's Jammu Division has completed the allotment of multi-purpose stalls through a large online auction that recorded the highest non-fare revenue for the division so far. The initiative was carried out under the supervision of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, who said the e-auction reflected a steady rise in the division's commercial performance.
The multi-purpose stalls will be set up at important stations such as Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Pathankot Cantonment, Sopore and Anantnag. These stalls will offer basic travel items, daily-use goods, hygiene products and small essentials aimed at improving commuter convenience during transit. According to the division, the stalls are expected to generate around INR 2.80 crore (INR 2,80,09,243) over the next five years.
Officials shared that the allocation was done through a transparent digital process, which is being considered a first for multi-purpose stall allotment in this region. The division noted that this approach helps ensure fair participation from bidders and gives small and medium local businesses an opportunity to operate inside stations with steady footfall.
This development follows the division's earlier efforts to increase non-fare revenue through auctions of LCD display panels, public conveniences and leasing of SLR space on trains. These steps have been part of a broader plan to diversify revenue while upgrading essential passenger facilities. The latest allotments add to that ongoing push and are expected to support more structured passenger services at the selected stations.
