Goa cabinet clears INR 2,500 crore projects under PPP model

The Goa cabinet has approved seven development projects worth INR 2,500 crore to be executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said this approach will speed up the work without putting financial pressure on the state. The projects cover the redevelopment of Junta House and Circuit House in Panaji, a new Prashasan Stambh, reconstruction of government quarters and a government garage, along with a new Kadamba Transport Corporation bus stand in Vasco. NBCC will execute the projects, which are expected to begin shortly.Read more

BMC plans 4.2 km flyover on LBS Marg to ease Kurla-Ghatkopar traffic

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to construct a 4.2 km flyover along LBS Marg, extending from Kalpana Talkies in Kurla West to Pankhe Shah Baba Dargah in Ghatkopar West. This initiative aims to alleviate persistent traffic congestion at major junctions such as Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, Ghatkopar Station Road, and Sant Narsi Mehta Road. The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is tasked with designing the flyover, considering existing infrastructure like the MRIDC bridge and the Metro line. Officials observed minor surface distress along a two-kilometre stretch on the Navi Mumbai-bound carriageway, attributed to heavy monsoon conditions and continuous traffic load. Over 600 trucks stranded on Mizoram's NH-306 due to poor road conditions

More than 600 trucks were stranded on Mizoram's National Highway 306 (NH-306), also called NH-6, due to the deteriorating condition of the Sairang-Kawnpui stretch. Around 339 trucks carrying essential commodities to Aizawl were halted at Kawnpui, while 264 empty trucks bound for Assam were stuck at Khamrang. Repairs made between July and August failed to hold. Mizoram Merchant Association (MIMA) and the Northeast Transporters' Union have warned that transportation of essential goods could be stopped during the next rainy season if the highway is not improved.Read more

Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train completes key 4.88 km tunnel in Maharashtra

India's first bullet train project has reached a major milestone with the completion of the 4.88 km Shilphata-Ghansoli tunnel, part of a 21 km underground section on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Noida International Airport to be inaugurated on October 30, flights to begin by mid-December

The Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, will be inaugurated on October 30, with passenger flights expected to start around mid-December. JSW Neo Energy to acquire Tidong hydropower project in Himachal for INR 1,728 crore

JSW Neo Energy, the subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed an agreement to acquire Tidong Power Generation from Statkraft IH Holding for INR 1,728 crore. The under-construction 150 MW run-of-river hydroelectric project in Himachal Pradesh has a 22-year Power Purchase Agreement with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd for 75 MW at INR 5.57 per kWh during the May to October period. The remaining 75 MW is untied and can be sold on the merchant market. The transaction is subject to approvals and expected to close in the coming months.Read more
