The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to construct a 4.2 km flyover along LBS Marg, extending from Kalpana Talkies in Kurla West to Pankhe Shah Baba Dargah in Ghatkopar West. This initiative aims to alleviate persistent traffic congestion at major junctions such as Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, Ghatkopar Station Road, and Sant Narsi Mehta Road. The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is tasked with designing the flyover, considering existing infrastructure like the MRIDC bridge and the Metro line. The project is currently in the planning phase.
To address the ongoing traffic congestion on LBS Marg, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning the construction of a 4.2 km flyover. The proposed flyover will stretch from Kalpana Talkies in Kurla West to Pankhe Shah Baba Dargah in Ghatkopar West. This area is known for its heavy traffic, especially at key junctions such as Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road, Ghatkopar Station Road, and Sant Narsi Mehta Road.
The flyover is designed to be a four-lane, two-way structure aimed at easing congestion at these critical points. In addition to these major junctions, the flyover will address several smaller crossroads along LBS Marg that contribute to traffic delays.
The Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) is responsible for developing the design and construction methodology for the flyover. The design process takes into account existing infrastructure, including the MRIDC bridge connecting Ghatkopar East and West, and the Metro line near Sarvodaya Hospital. Given these overlapping structures, the flyover will be constructed at a second elevated level above the Metro line.
Currently, the project is in the planning stage. Further developments will depend on the completion of the design phase and the subsequent approval processes.
