Final safety checks have begun on the first phase of Mumbai Metro Line 2B, with the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety inspecting a 5.39 km stretch from Mandale to Diamond Garden. Covering five stations-Mandale, Mankhurd, BSNL, Shivaji Chowk, and Diamond Garden-the review will clear the way for passenger operations by late September, subject to compliance. The Maharashtra cabinet has cleared BEST's plan to seek INR 3,400 crore from the Centre to modernize and strengthen Mumbai's electricity network.
