Mumbai's civic body will demolish the INR 27 crore Veer Savarkar flyover at Goregaon-opened in 2018-and replace it with a double-deck elevated bridge. The upcoming bridge will form part of the Coastal Road 2 project, designed to connect Versova with Dahisar. It will also provide a direct link between the Coastal Road (North)'s Malad-Mindspace stretch and Goregaon-Mulund Link Road. Unlike the current flyover, the new bridge will be supported on a single pier, with two decks handling different traffic flows.
Built at a cost of 27 crore the flyover runs from Radisson Hotel to Rustomjee Ozone and became operational in 2018. Citizens have also drawn parallels with the Gokhale-Barfiwala flyover mismatch episode in 2022, which led to widespread criticism of planning lapses.
