The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has intensified its cleanliness and dust control drive across major residential colonies and commercial zones in the city. The campaign involved coordinated efforts from its Public Health (Sanitation), Horticulture, and Civil Engineering departments, focusing on mechanised sweeping, side drain cleaning, minor repairs, and upkeep of green spaces. Areas covered include Kaka Nagar, West Kidwai Nagar, Jor Bagh, Shahjahan Road officer quarters, Barakhamba Road, KG Marg, Maulana Azad Road, and Connaught Place. The initiative aims to reduce dust pollution, improve environmental conditions, and enhance public health in densely populated urban neighborhoods.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has launched an extensive cleanliness and dust management campaign across prominent residential and commercial areas within its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to reduce dust related pollution, maintain sanitation standards, and improve the overall urban environment for residents and visitors.
The campaign brought together multiple NDMC departments, including Public Health (Sanitation), Horticulture, and Civil Engineering, working in a coordinated manner. Key tasks involved mechanised road sweeping, removal of silt and debris from side drains, repairing damaged pavements and minor structures, and maintaining green areas with blowers to prevent dust accumulation. These efforts are part of a sustained approach to improve air quality and hygiene across urban zones.
Officials explained that the drive focused on important residential neighborhoods such as Kaka Nagar, West Kidwai Nagar, Jor Bagh, and official quarters along Shahjahan Road. In commercial areas, teams targeted main thoroughfares including Barakhamba Road, KG Marg, Maulana Azad Road, and central parts of Connaught Place. The council emphasized that these locations were prioritized due to high footfall and vehicular movement, which can increase dust levels if not regularly maintained.
NDMC representatives noted that this drive continues earlier efforts to improve urban sanitation and reduce environmental pollutants. They highlighted that systematic cleaning, combined with minor civil repairs and horticultural maintenance, not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the city but also contributes to better public health standards. The council views such drives as part of a broader strategy to create cleaner, greener, and safer urban spaces.
The council also encouraged community participation, urging residents and business owners to support ongoing cleanliness initiatives. Officials said that regular maintenance and citizen cooperation are crucial to sustaining the improvements achieved through these drives.
