Synopsis

ACME Solar Holdings has won the 130 MW round-the-clock renewable energy bid issued by REMCL for Indian Railways at INR 4.35 per unit. The project requires continuous power supply, achieved through solar, wind, and battery storage systems, with minimum availability targets of 75% for the first three years and 85% thereafter. ACME Solar will sign a direct PPA with Railways and commission the project within 30 months. With an operational capacity of 2,934 MW and 4,456 MW under construction, the company leverages its in-house EPC and O&M teams to ensure cost-effective and efficient project delivery.

ACME Solar Holdings has secured the winning bid for a 130 MW capacity in a tender issued by Rail Energy Management Company Limited (REMCL) for round-the-clock renewable energy. The company's bid was INR 4.35 per unit, according to a statement released by ACME Solar.

The tender, part of REMCL's 1,000 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project, aims to supply consistent power to Indian Railways, which requires a stable power profile throughout the day due to its operational needs. The Railways will directly enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with ACME Solar without involving intermediaries.

ACME Solar's bid demonstrates the competitiveness of renewable energy to provide high capacity utilization factor (CUF) power throughout the day by co-locating solar, wind, and battery storage at an optimal price. The project will include renewable energy complemented with dispatchable sources and/or energy storage systems (ESS) connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) to ensure firm and uninterrupted power.

The tender specifies a minimum annual availability of 75% for the first three contractual years after commissioning, increasing to 85% thereafter. This will require a combination of solar and battery installations, with additional wind power as needed. ACME Solar is expected to commission the project within 30 months of signing the PPA, supported by the availability of land and connectivity within its portfolio.

ACME Solar Holdings is a leading integrated renewable energy company with a diversified portfolio that includes solar, wind, storage, floating solar, and hybrid solutions. The company currently has an operational contracted capacity of 2,934 MW and an under-construction capacity of 4,456 MW, which includes 13.5 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) installations. Its in-house EPC and O&M divisions allow ACME Solar to handle end-to-end development and operations of plants, delivering projects efficiently while maintaining high CUF and industry-leading operating margins.
