CREDAI-MCHI convened its 43rd Annual General Meeting last week, bringing together senior government leaders, policymakers, and real estate stakeholders to outline a unified reform agenda under the leadership of President Shri Sukhraj Nahar. The association highlighted strengthened coordination with civic authorities, the rollout of Ease of Doing Business 2.0, and collective representation through a joint platform with NAREDCO, PEATA, and BDA. Key developments included institutionalised monthly reviews with BMC and SRA, acknowledgement of members contributions during recent floods, and curated discussions on Mumbai's future development trajectory. The AGM reaffirmed CREDAI-MCHI's commitment to transparent, timely, and responsible urban growth.
CREDAI-MCHI held its 43rd Annual General Meeting earlier this week at the Jio World Convention Centre in BKC, where senior government officials, policymakers, and real estate stakeholders gathered to deliberate on policy priorities for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Under the leadership of President Shri Sukhraj Nahar, the association has focused on strengthening coordination between the government and the real estate industry. Acting on guidance from the Chief Minister, a joint platform was initiated with CREDAI-MCHI, NAREDCO, PEATA, and BDA to collectively address sectoral challenges with authorities.
A convergence meeting took place at the Four Seasons Hotel, followed by a joint review session with the BMC led by Municipal Commissioner Dr Bhushan Gagrani (IAS). Several operational issues were discussed, and multiple concerns were resolved as part of this coordinated effort. The minutes of the meeting were formally endorsed during the AGM, reaffirming a shared commitment to structured collaboration and quicker decision-making.
The association has introduced Ease of Doing Business 2.0, a framework aimed at simplifying approvals, enhancing transparency, and ensuring time-bound responses from regulatory bodies. Monthly review mechanisms with the BMC and SRA are being institutionalised to track project-level progress and eliminate procedural delays.
In addition to its policy initiatives, CREDAI-MCHI demonstrated its responsiveness to community needs. During the recent floods in Maharashtra, members collectively contributed INR 5.5 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund within hours of an appeal, reflecting the sector's commitment to social responsibility.
Dr Bhushan Gagrani appreciated the collaborative efforts and noted that bringing four major associations together reflected maturity within the sector. He conveyed that unified representation enables the administration to address concerns with greater speed and accuracy. He also emphasised the need for developers to follow construction-site guidelines and adopt sustainable urban planning practices in light of rising air pollution and deteriorating AQI levels.
President Shri Sukhraj Nahar stated that the association's focus this year has been on deepening collaboration across the industry. He conveyed that unified engagement among CREDAI-MCHI, NAREDCO, PEATA, and BDA would support efficient resolution of regulatory and operational challenges and strengthen the review ecosystem for approvals with the BMC and SRA.
Secretary Mr Rushi Mehta highlighted that the AGM marked not just the organisation's longevity but its meaningful impact. He recalled examples such as litigation efforts that enabled the release of over 700 schemes and advocacy for the 10:10:80 premium policy, encouraging members to use the platform proactively. Senior Vice President Jitendra Mehta added that sustained dialogue with authorities would help ensure transparency, accountability, and faster project execution across the MMR.
The AGM also featured two Fireside Chat sessions where senior industry leaders shared perspectives on the city's evolving real estate landscape. Shri Parag Shah and Shri Manan Shah of MICL Group spoke about creating long-lasting real estate landmarks, while Shri Shahid Balwa of DB Realty Ltd offered insights on innovation and forward-looking development principles.
Under President Shri Sukhraj Nahar's leadership, CREDAI-MCHI's ongoing agenda includes structured engagement with regulatory bodies for faster approvals, coordinated industry representation across major developer associations, continued policy dialogue with urban departments, participation in planning for two proposed new cities, and enhanced transparency through regular reviews and published minutes.
The AGM reaffirmed CREDAI-MCHI's role as a central platform for industry-government engagement in the MMR, working to drive regulatory reforms, transparent processes, and responsible urban development.
The association continues to expand its regional presence, with over 2,200 members across key locations such as Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli, Mira-Virar, Raigad, Navi Mumbai, Palghar-Boisar, Bhiwandi, and several emerging regions including Alibaug, Karjat-Khalapur-Khopoli, and Pen. As part of CREDAI National, it remains a preferred platform for regional dialogue on housing and habitat, committed to facilitating policy reform, sustainable growth, and strengthened relations with the government.
