The Chhattisgarh government has sanctioned INR 429.45 crore for 26 urban infrastructure projects spread across 13 municipal corporations. The approval falls under the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Nagarotthan Yojana, which forms part of the state's 2025-26 budget. The scheme is intended to support all 14 municipal corporations and will later extend to municipal councils and nagar panchayats.

The projects cleared in this phase cover a wide range of civic works. These include expansion of marine-drive stretches, development of oxygen-cum-sports complexes, construction of inter-state and hi-tech bus terminals, upgrades at major road junctions, auditorium development, lake-front improvements, park creation, water-supply strengthening, formation of mobility corridors, development of Gaurav Path roads, and road widening and bypass projects.

Initial implementation activity has already started. Work orders have been issued for five projects, while foundation stones have been laid for five others, marking the first set of projects moving into execution.

City-wise allocations were also detailed. Raipur Municipal Corporation received the highest sanction of INR 91.27 crore for works including improvement of road junctions, strengthening of the water-supply system, redevelopment of Mahadev Ghat, and construction of a technical tower near Telibandha Lake. Raigarh Municipal Corporation was allocated INR 64.66 crore, and Bilaspur Municipal Corporation was sanctioned INR 57.92 crore for nine separate projects. Other cities such as Korba, Dhamtari, Bhilai-Charoda, Ambikapur, Jagdalpur and Risali also received funds for road, connectivity, beautification and civic-amenity work.

To ensure smooth implementation, district-level monitoring committees chaired by Collectors will oversee progress. These committees will include municipal commissioners along with engineers from the Public Works Department and Public Health Engineering. According to officials, the effort is aimed at building well-planned and liveable cities, with an emphasis on improving basic services as well as public spaces.
