The Uttarakhand government under CM Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced multiple infrastructure initiatives that cover urban and rural areas alike. Key plans include a medical college in Rudrapur, a major bypass road costing around INR 590 crore, new four-lane roads connecting important towns, revival of the Jamrani Dam project for water and irrigation, support for sugarcane farmers with a hike in support price, and construction of Senani Bhawans in villages of freedom fighters. These moves reflect a coordinated push to improve connectivity, healthcare, water supply, and agricultural income across the state.
The government of Uttarakhand is pushing ahead with a series of infrastructure initiatives spanning from urban centres to remote mountain villages under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami. He made the remarks while addressing a gathering on the 47th death anniversary of freedom fighter Pandit Ram Sumer Shukla. As part of this push, the government plans to build a 'Senani Bhawan' in villages of freedom fighters, based on proposals from local block-level leaders.
A medical college named after Shukla is being built in Rudrapur to improve access to quality healthcare. Alongside this, a bypass around Rudrapur is under construction, with an estimated cost of approximately INR 590 crore. To boost road connectivity, new four-lane roads are being developed linking Rudrapur to the towns of Khatima-Tanakpur and Gadarpur-Jaspur.
The government has also restarted work on the Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project, aiming to address both drinking water and irrigation needs across the Terai region. In addition, to support farmers, the state raised the support price for sugarcane by INR 30 per quintal, a measure intended to increase agricultural income. CM Dhami also paid tribute to Shukla by garlanding his statue, unveiling a plaque detailing his life, and honoured 11 individuals for their contributions in various fields.
These steps reinforce a broader effort by the Uttarakhand government to strengthen infrastructure across vital sectors including roads, health, water, and agriculture extending from plains to remote hill villages.
