The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has stepped up its air-pollution control efforts after instructions from Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, launching intensive citywide cleaning to reduce dust levels. Construction sites, quarry areas and cement units are under strict monitoring, while roadside debris is being cleared and roads washed with treated water. Encap fogger vehicles are spraying atomised water along busy routes to help settle airborne particles. Deep-cleaning was carried out across Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, Turbhe, Rabale, Digha, Nerul and Belapur, with dust removed and transported for safe disposal. The drive reflects the administration's push to improve air quality through regular cleaning, mechanised washing and targeted dust-suppression measures.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has accelerated its measures to control air pollution across the city, following instructions issued by Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde earlier this week. The civic body has begun implementing intensive cleaning operations on a war-footing to reduce airborne dust levels, and officials report that the impact of these efforts has already started to show.
As part of the initiative, construction sites, stone-quarry zones and cement-processing units remain under close scrutiny. Roadside dust and construction debris are being cleared and transported immediately, followed by thorough washing of roads using processed water. In addition, the corporation is also using Encap fogger vehicles to spray atomised treated water in busy corridors, ensuring that suspended dust particles settle on the ground for easier removal.
Deep-cleaning work continued today across several locations, including the main road in Koparkhairane village, Ghansoli Sector 23 and Palm Beach Road in Ghansoli. Main roads in Turbhe village, as well as stretches near the Hanuman Mandir and Datt Mandir in Rabale Gaon market, were also cleared of dust and debris. Similar efforts were undertaken around the railway station and Mukund Chowk in the Digha division. In Nerul Sector 3, roads were cleaned thoroughly ahead of Datt Jayanti, while in Belapur division, cleaning was undertaken on the road behind Apollo Hospital on Parsik Hill.
All road stretches were cleaned, dust was removed and transported, and the surfaces were washed using treated water to ensure effective dust suppression.
Navi Mumbai's intensified dust-control programme reflects the administration's renewed focus on improving urban air quality. By combining routine cleaning with targeted deep-cleaning cycles, mechanised washing and fogger-based water spraying, the civic body aims to reduce particulate matter and create healthier public spaces.
