The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has cleared the second phase of land pooling for Amaravati, adding about 16,666 acres from seven villages and supporting land owned by the government. This expansion will accommodate the inner ring road, rail network, and the planned international-standard sports city. Officials also indicated that the wider land bank may help future plans such as an international airport and industrial zones. This approval follows the earlier pooling of nearly 34,000 acres, taking the total development area close to 50,000 acres.
The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has approved the second phase of land pooling to support the ongoing development of Amaravati. This decision adds about 16,666 acres to the capital region, sourced from seven villages: Vaikuntapuram, Pedda Madduru, Endrai, Karlapudi, Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram and Peddaparimi. Of this area, around 7,562 acres come from the first four villages, while the remaining 9,104.57 acres are contributed by the other three. In addition to this, the government has nearly 3,828 acres of its own land largely hilly terrain available for future use.
Officials noted that the expanded land availability will support key projects such as the inner ring road and rail connectivity planned for the capital region. The land has also been earmarked for the proposed international-standard sports city, which has been part of the broader Amaravati blueprint. The government expects that the enlarged development footprint will make it easier to plan long-term infrastructure, including a possible international airport location and zones for smart industries.
Farmers contributing their land in this phase are expected to receive residential and commercial plots, along with lease payments, similar to the assurances offered during the first phase. The land pooling system has been central to Amaravati's development model, and officials stated that the same commitments will be followed in this expansion as well.
This approval comes after the earlier pooling of nearly 34,000 acres over previous years. Along with additional endowment, forest, Waqf and Poramboke lands estimated to be about 16,000 acres the total available development area of Amaravati now approaches 50,000 acres. The move signals continued progress in reviving capital development works, with senior leaders also indicating separately that construction targets are being aligned with long-term timelines announced by the state.
