Vedanta Group has announced plans to invest an additional INR 1 lakh crore in Odisha, with projects including an alumina refinery, an aluminium park in Dhenkanal, and a ferro-alloys plant in Keonjhar. The investment is expected to create over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs, further strengthening the state's industrial growth and positioning Odisha as a significant player in the global metal and aluminium value chain.

During a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal presented the new investment plans, highlighting their potential to drive economic development and innovation in the state. The ferro-alloys plant, with an investment of around INR 2,000 crore, aims to enhance Odisha's contribution to global metal production.

In addition, two aluminium parks are planned: one at Jharsuguda, nearing completion, and another at a site identified by the state government. These parks will focus on producing high-grade aluminium alloys for sectors such as aerospace, defence, and electric vehicles. This initiative is expected to attract substantial downstream investments and strengthen the MSME sector in Odisha.

Vedanta Group has already invested approximately INR 1 lakh crore in the state, establishing the world's largest integrated aluminium smelter at Jharsuguda with a production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes per annum and a world-class alumina refinery at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district with a capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum. These investments have contributed to the creation of over 100,000 jobs and integrated local communities into the broader socio-economic framework.

The Odisha government has assured full support for these new projects, including the provision of land and necessary infrastructure. Vedanta has also encouraged students, startups, and entrepreneurs in the state to explore innovative applications of aluminium at its industrial parks, fostering a culture of innovation and technology-driven growth.
