Synopsis

The Gumla district administration addressed 746 land dispute and pending certificate cases during its Anchal Diwas initiative, benefiting residents, especially underprivileged communities. Launched earlier this year, the program held weekly sessions at circle offices, providing access to administrative services without traveling to district headquarters. The initiative resolved issues ranging from land ownership disputes to caste and residential certificates. With 933 cases received in the first phase, the administration successfully addressed most on the spot, reflecting its focus on improving governance and timely service delivery at the grassroots level.

The Gumla district administration has resolved 746 land dispute and other pending cases as part of its Anchal Diwas initiative, bringing relief to many residents, particularly from underprivileged communities. This initiative, rolled out earlier this year, is designed to take administrative services closer to people by holding weekly janta darbars at circle office levels, allowing residents to resolve issues without visiting the district headquarters.

During the initiative, many long-standing disputes were addressed. A member of the PVTG Birhor community in Palkot block, Magdali Birhor, had struggled for years with a family land dispute involving claims from her in-laws. The administration's intervention settled the dispute, and she received official ownership documentation. Similarly, Pramila Nooram from Raidih block, who had been waiting for months, received her pending caste certificate during the session.

District Commissioner Prerna Dixit said the main objective of Anchal Diwas is to resolve land and other matters nearest to residents' homes, reducing the need for them to travel long distances. She added that the initiative has addressed a wide range of issues, including land disputes, mutation cases, agriculture loan-related problems, natural disaster assistance, and the issuance of caste, income, and residential certificates.

In the first phase, which concluded earlier this month, a total of 933 cases were received across all 12 circle offices. Of these, 746 were resolved on the spot, while 187 cases are still being processed. The initiative was conducted every Saturday and aimed to ensure timely and transparent resolution of pending disputes. The success of Anchal Diwas demonstrates the administration's commitment to improving governance and providing practical support at the grassroots level.
