The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has launched the land pooling process for Infopark Phase III, covering around 500 acres in Kunnathunad, Kochi. The project aims to create an AI-integrated township with digital management of all basic services and a focus on deep-tech startups. Additionally, the state government approved the transfer of 33.5 acres from Traco Cable Company to Infopark for its Phase IV expansion at a valuation of INR 200 crore. The development is expected to boost IT infrastructure and employment in the region.
The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) recently inaugurated a dedicated land pooling office at the Infopark campus, formally starting the land pooling process for Infopark Phase III. This initiative covers approximately 500 acres in Kunnathunad, Kochi, and will support the creation of a township fully integrated with artificial intelligence. The AI-integrated township will manage basic services through real-time data analysis and digital control systems.
The land pooling model involves consolidating multiple land parcels into a single tract. Landowners temporarily surrender their land and, once development is complete, receive back a portion of the improved land, which is expected to be significantly more valuable. A land pooling officer will oversee the process, and official notifications will be issued to landowners, followed by meetings to address any concerns and maintain transparency.
In a related development, the state government approved the transfer of 33.5 acres from Traco Cable Company, a public sector enterprise under the Department of Industry, for Infopark Phase IV expansion. This land transfer, valued at INR 200 crore, was finalized through a high-level committee comprising officials from the Industry and IT departments, Infopark leadership, and Traco Cable Company management. The acquisition will enable Infopark to expand its IT infrastructure by an additional 5 million square feet, potentially generating around 50,000 direct IT jobs.
