The Chief Minister of Mizoram recently met representatives from IPE Global to initiate the process of developing the state's first planned city. During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised the need for meticulous planning and high-quality execution, while IPE Global committed to setting up a local office and commencing work on the project's master plan shortly.
In a move seen as a milestone in Mizoram's urban transformation, the Chief Minister met with IPE Global's leadership to discuss the detailed roadmap for developing Thenzawl Peace City. The project aims to create a model township that reflects a balance between modern urban living and the state's natural beauty, promoting a clean, green and liveable environment. The Chief Minister underscored the importance of ensuring excellence in every aspect of planning, highlighting that the Project Monitoring Committee of the state would closely oversee progress to maintain quality and transparency.
IPE Global, a globally recognised development consulting firm, shared that it has significant expertise in preparing and executing city master plans both within India and abroad. The company is expected to open its Mizoram office in the coming weeks and begin field operations soon after. The selection process for the consultancy witnessed participation from 18 reputed firms, reflecting the scale and competitiveness of the project. The company reaffirmed its commitment to aligning the development with Mizoram's cultural context, sustainability goals and long-term infrastructure vision.
The planned city is expected to feature advanced civic amenities, efficient urban management systems and environmentally responsible infrastructure. It will be designed to attract investment, support tourism and provide a template for future planned urban centres in the North-East region.
The Thenzawl Peace City project represents a transformative step in Mizoram's approach to urbanisation, focusing on organised growth, sustainability and regional inclusivity. By partnering with a firm experienced in urban development and implementing rigorous state-level monitoring, Mizoram is positioning itself to achieve a model township that combines modern planning with ecological and cultural sensitivity. Once completed, the city is likely to redefine the state's urban landscape and serve as an example for similar projects across the region.
