Earlier this week, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) announced that it would reopen registrations for some 500 residential plots under the Anantnagar Housing Scheme coinciding with Diwali. The project, spread across 785 acres, includes plans for an Education City and modern infrastructure. Plot sizes range across multiple categories, and rates remain fixed. Additionally, the state government has approved significant funding for two new LDA housing projects - Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar - set to further expand residential offerings in the region.
Following a high demand in the first two rounds - when nearly 700 plots were allotted - the LDA has decided to reopen registration for the Anantnagar Housing Scheme around Diwali, offering approximately 500 plots. The project, located along Mohan Road, is being developed over 785 acres and is expected to accommodate up to 150,000 residents. It is being laid out on a modern grid system, with wide roadways, underground cabling, and other infrastructure compliant with international norms. An Education City covering about 100 acres is also part of the plan.
According to LDA officials, the rate of INR 41,150 per square metre will remain unchanged. Applications will be accepted via an online portal, and plot allotment will follow a lottery mechanism. The sizes on offer will include 450, 288, 200, 162 and 112.5 square metre plots.
In parallel, the state government has approved a budget of INR 750 crore for two new residential ventures under LDA: Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar. The finance department has begun transferring these sanctioned funds. The Varun Vihar scheme is slated to cover about 6,580 acres along Mohan Road, while Naimish Nagar will be developed over some 3,670 acres near Bakshi Ka Talab. Both schemes are planned to include residential plots, apartments, commercial zones and landscaped green areas.
This renewed registration drive for Anantnagar plots reflects LDA's intent to maintain momentum in meeting urban housing demand, while continuing to offer well-planned infrastructure and modern amenities. The fixed rate signals stability in pricing, and the lottery-based allotment aims at transparency. Meanwhile, with Varun Vihar and Naimish Nagar now backed by sizeable state funding, the region's residential footprint looks poised for significant expansion. These new projects, with their mixed offerings and green planning, could further transform the housing landscape in Lucknow.
