Delhi Development Authority approached IIT Delhi and Delhi Technological University to assist in investigating the basement flooding and flooring failure at Triveni Apartments in Dwarka. The drop in the floor had caused water ingress, damage to vehicles and concern among residents. The two institutes are expected to inspect the premises, identify causes such as soil or structural issues, and offer corrective recommendations. Meanwhile, DDA has been on site daily and plans to act based on the expert findings.
The Delhi Development Authority has sought technical support from IIT Delhi and DTU to ascertain the cause of sudden basement flooding and flooring damage at Triveni Apartments in Dwarka's Sector 16B. The complex, comprising over 340 flats across three towers and occupied by more than 200 families, features two basement levels. DDA has asked both institutions to dispatch inspection teams and submit a detailed report. Officials have said that the experts are likely to visit the site this week and provide a preliminary timeline for their report. Daily site visits are already underway by DDA personnel. One of the institutes may be retained on a long-term basis to oversee restoration works and guide mitigation measures. Once testing and inspection are complete, the authority intends to act on the recommendations.
Residents report that while there is currently no major flooding, seepage persists at various points.
By engaging IIT Delhi and DTU, DDA has taken a key step towards unravelling the technical roots of the incident, reinforcing the necessity of expert oversight in high-risk subterranean construction. The upcoming inspection report will be pivotal in shaping remedial steps and in holding accountability for any lapses.
