The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) launched a vigorous demolition drive in the Koparkhairane division earlier this month under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde. Guided by Additional Commissioner (2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department acted upon court orders to remove an unauthorised structure in Mahape village. The structure, measuring approximately 6.5 metres by 6 metres, was demolished in compliance with judicial directives. The operation targeted an illegal construction situated behind Survey No. 80 in Mahape village under the Koparkhairane division. In accordance with the court?s order, a structure measuring 6.50 metres by 6.00 metres was dismantled. The drive was organised by the Koparkhairane division, with the participation of Assistant Commissioner Bharat Dhandhe, Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre, and several civic officials and staff members.
To ensure smooth execution, the civic body deployed 12 labourers, a pickup van, and maintained police presence throughout the demolition. The NMMC officials stated that similar actions would continue across other divisions to curb unauthorised constructions within city limits.
Through this recent demolition initiative, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has reiterated its firm stance against illegal constructions in Koparkhairane and adjoining areas. Officials indicated that anti-encroachment operations will continue to be intensified in the coming period to maintain planned urban development and uphold judicial orders. The civic administration also highlighted the importance of citizen cooperation in reporting such unauthorised activities to ensure orderly and lawful urban growth across Navi Mumbai.
