Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, has opened a new advanced manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with an investment of USD 100 million. The centre, spread over 26 acres at KIADB Aerospace Park, will produce seats, lighting and cargo systems, temperature sensors, communication and navigation equipment, and evacuation slides for global markets. The project forms part of RTX's USD 250 million investment plan for India. The facility is expected to employ over 2,200 people by 2026 and support future expansion opportunities.
Collins Aerospace, a division of aerospace and defence major RTX, has launched a new manufacturing facility in Bengaluru with an investment of USD 100 million. The newly opened Collins India Operations Center (CIOC), located on a 26-acre site at the KIADB Aerospace Park, aims to boost the company's capacity to produce advanced aerospace components for international markets.
The facility will manufacture a range of products including aircraft seats, lighting systems, cargo systems, temperature sensors, communication and navigation systems, water solutions, and evacuation slides. It has been equipped with modern production technologies such as artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and robotics to improve precision and efficiency.
The company stated that the new facility will support more than 70 Collins products and help strengthen its global manufacturing network. Roy Gullickson, Senior Vice President of Operations at Collins Aerospace, said the CIOC would play a key role in improving operations, enhancing service capabilities, and meeting customer demands. He also noted that the facility will provide additional capacity for future business growth.
The investment in this facility is part of RTX's broader USD 250 million commitment to India, announced nearly five years ago. Of this total, USD 100 million has been invested in an engineering and test development centre, while another USD 50 million has been directed to the Pratt & Whitney India Engineering Centre.
Collins Aerospace has been present in India for close to three decades, contributing to the country's aerospace ecosystem through investments in manufacturing, engineering, and digital operations. The company currently employs over 6,500 people across various business functions and expects its new facility to further strengthen its local presence and global supply chain capabilities.
