JSW Steel's October steel output rose 9% year-on-year to 24.95 lakh tonnes, driven largely by its India operations. Domestic production increased 10 per cent to 24.12 lakh tonnes, while the Ohio facility in the US saw a marginal rise to 0.83 lakh tonnes. Capacity utilisation in India was at 83 per cent due to a temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 at Vijayanagar for a capacity upgrade, with production expected to resume in February 2026. JSW Steel recorded a 9% increase in its consolidated steel production in October, reaching 24.95 lakh tonnes, driven primarily by its operations in India. The company had produced 22.81 lakh tonnes in October last year, according to a filing with the stock exchange. Advertisement
The total crude steel output grew year-on-year by 9 per cent, the company noted. In India, production rose to 24.12 lakh tonnes in October, marking a 10 per cent increase from 21.99 lakh tonnes in the same month last year. Meanwhile, JSW Steel's Ohio facility in the United States produced 0.83 lakh tonnes, slightly higher than 0.82 lakh tonnes in October 2024.
Capacity utilisation in India stood at 83 per cent, slightly lower due to the temporary shutdown of Blast Furnace 3 (BF3) at Vijayanagar. The shutdown is aimed at upgrading its capacity from 3.0 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA. Production at BF3 is expected to resume in February 2026.
