Nissan Motor has completed a 97 billion yen (USD 643 million) sale and leaseback of its global headquarters in Yokohama, Japan, as part of its ongoing business restructuring strategy. The company expects this transaction to generate around 73.9 billion yen in extraordinary income for the current fiscal year ending March 2026.

The trust beneficiary rights for the land and building were acquired by MJI Godo Kaisha. Nissan will continue operating from the headquarters under a 20-year lease agreement with Mizuho Trust & Banking. The lease payment details were not disclosed, as the buyer preferred to keep them private.

Earlier reports indicated that a special purpose company backed by Hong Kong-listed auto parts manufacturer Minth Group and led by a unit of private equity firm KKR & Co purchased Nissan's Yokohama assets for 90 billion yen. Sources familiar with the matter had identified KKR as the top bidder for the headquarters.

Nissan is set to release its half-year earnings through September, which will likely reflect the impact of this significant transaction on its financial results. The move aligns with the automaker's broader efforts to optimize its assets and strengthen its balance sheet amid restructuring plans.
