Omnia, a data center company backed by Patria, has partnered with Casa dos Ventos to develop a USD 9.25 billion (INR 50 billion) data center in Ceara, Brazil, which will be exclusively used by TikTok. The project will be the largest of its kind in Brazil, with a power capacity of 300 megawatts. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with operations set for 2027. It will also be Brazil's first data center designed for exporting data, powered by renewable energy sources for sustainable operations.
Omnia, a data center company owned by the Brazilian investment firm Patria, has confirmed its participation in a large-scale data center project in Brazil. The development, valued at INR 50 billion (USD 9.25 billion), will cater exclusively to TikTok, making it one of the largest digital infrastructure projects in the country. Omnia has joined forces with Casa dos Ventos, a leading renewable energy producer, to build the facility within the Pecem port complex in the northeastern state of Ceara.
While Brazilian government officials have publicly acknowledged TikTok's involvement in the project, ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, has chosen not to comment. However, sources familiar with the matter have confirmed that TikTok will be the sole client for the new facility.
The upcoming data center is expected to have a power consumption capacity of 300 megawatts, positioning it as Brazil's largest single-client data center once completed. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year, and the facility is expected to start operations by 2027.
As part of the investment structure, Omnia will allocate INR 12 billion (USD 2.2 billion) toward building core infrastructure, while TikTok will contribute the remaining amount for information technology systems such as servers and processing equipment. Casa dos Ventos plans to invest an additional INR 3.5 billion (USD 650 million) in constructing new wind farms that will generate dedicated renewable energy for the project.
The Brazilian government has authorized the upcoming facility to offer data export services, marking a first for the country's data center industry. Omnia's CEO, Rodrigo Abreu, said that the project would become Brazil's first data center focused specifically on data export, positioning the country as an emerging global hub for technology and cloud infrastructure.
Brazil's abundant renewable energy resources have become a key advantage in attracting large-scale digital investments. The government has also taken proactive steps to support the sector, with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva recently approving federal tax exemptions for data center projects that use sustainable energy sources.
