Synopsis

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) announced that its Democracy Day for December will be observed on the first Monday of the month, in line with the Maharashtra Government's directive. During the recently held session earlier this week, Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde reviewed one application and instructed the Encroachment Department to take necessary action. The civic body has urged citizens to submit their applications in the prescribed format for the upcoming Democracy Day session to be held in December.

In accordance with Maharashtra Government guidelines, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation holds a Democracy Day session on the first Monday of every month at its headquarters. During the session held earlier this week, Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde reviewed an application and directed the Encroachment Department to initiate the required proceedings.

The next Democracy Day for December is scheduled to be held on the first Monday of the month. Applicants have been asked to submit their applications in the prescribed format, in duplicate, addressed to the Municipal Commissioner, with the envelope clearly marked as 'Application for Democracy Day'. These applications must be submitted before the specified deadline in December.

While submitting the application, citizens have been reminded that the complaints or representations should pertain to personal matters and concern a single issue related to one department only. It is also mandatory that the concerned citizen must have previously submitted the same issue to the department or divisional head before approaching Democracy Day.

Applications concerning sub judice matters, revenue or appeal-related issues, or service and establishment matters will not be accepted. Furthermore, applications not in the prescribed format or lacking supporting documents will also be rejected. Repetitive complaints or those for which final decisions have already been provided will not be entertained either.

The prescribed application format for Democracy Day is available on the official NMMC website (https://nmmc.gov.in) under the 'General Information' section of the Information and Public Relations Department. Citizens can easily download the application form online or collect a free copy from the Information and Public Relations Department, located on the third floor of the NMMC New Headquarters Building, Sector 15A, near Kille Gaonthan, CBD Belapur.

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation continues its initiative to enhance civic engagement through monthly Democracy Day sessions. Citizens have been encouraged to participate by submitting their grievances in the correct format and through appropriate channels. By maintaining procedural clarity and excluding ineligible cases, the civic body aims to ensure transparency and efficiency in redressing public concerns. The availability of the online and offline application process further facilitates citizen participation in governance.
