HYDRAA has taken decisive action to curb land misuse in Hyderabad after investigating public complaints received via the Prajavani platform. Commissioner A.V. Ranganath confirmed that in Hastinapuram North Extension Colony (Karmanghat village), a 1.27-acre park area from an approved layout had been illegally sold as plots; the agency removed the encroachments, fenced the land, and installed ownership boards. In Subhash Nagar (Chandanagar circle), a 700 sq yd plot reserved for public amenities was also reclaimed and fenced. HYDRAA urged citizens to continue reporting such violations through Prajavani, highlighting that public participation and swift enforcement are key to safeguarding Hyderabad's community land and public assets.
In a move aimed at curbing land misuse, HYDRAA responded to public complaints made via the Prajavani platform and conducted inspections in two Hyderabad localities. According to Commissioner AV Ranganath, the agency verified that at Hastinapuram North Extension Colony (Karmanghat village, Saroornagar mandal) a 1.27-acre park area originally earmarked in the approved layout had been sold off as individual plots. Upon confirmation, HYDRAA removed the encroachments, erected fences and installed boards marking the land as agency property.
In a separate operation under the Chandanagar circle of the Serilingampally zone, the team cleared a 700-square-yard plot that was designated for public amenities in a layout developed by the social-welfare department in 1974 (named Subhash Nagar). That site had been occupied and converted into residential plots. Commissioner Ranganath stated that following localisation of the complaint and site verification the unauthorised occupancy was removed and protective fencing was erected to deter further misuse.
HYDRAA further urged citizens to lodge complaints via Prajavani, emphasising that prompt reporting supports swift action to protect publicly-designated land.
This initiative by HYDRAA underscores the agency's commitment to reclaiming publicly-earmarked land and preserving community-assets in Hyderabad. By acting on citizen-led complaints and installing safeguards, it has reasserted control over land meant for parks and public amenities. Continued vigilance and public cooperation through platforms such as Prajavani will be pivotal in maintaining the integrity of such spaces and ensuring they serve their intended communal purpose.
