Synopsis

The Tamil Nadu government has approved INR 937.36 crore for internal infrastructure development in Dharmapuri district. The funding supports roads, water supply, drainage, and lighting facilities within a new 1,733-acre SIPCOT industrial park covering several villages in Dharmapuri and Nallampalli taluks. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin also reviewed construction progress at a 10-acre modern bus stand in A Settyahalli village, developed at an estimated cost of INR 39.14 crore with support from private and public contributions. Senior officials and ministers were present during the inspection.

The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned INR 937.36 crore to develop internal infrastructure in Dharmapuri district. The approval covers the construction of internal roads, stormwater drainage systems, street lighting, and water-supply pipelines within the newly planned SIPCOT industrial park. The move aims to improve the region's connectivity and promote industrial activity by providing essential facilities before investor allotments begin.

During his visit to the district, Chief Minister Shri M. K. Stalin inspected the ongoing work on two major projects the SIPCOT industrial park and a new bus stand at A Settyahalli village under the Dharmapuri municipality. The bus stand is being developed over 10 acres at an estimated cost of INR 39.14 crore. It is funded jointly through private sector support and general public contributions. The project is designed to ease congestion in the existing town area and improve commuter convenience for people traveling to nearby towns.

The new industrial park spans 1,733 acres, spread across Adhagodi in Dharmapuri taluk and Thadangam, Athiyamankottai, and Balajangamanahalli villages in Nallampalli taluk. Once operational, it is expected to become one of Tamil Nadu's largest industrial estates. The government has stated that the project will help attract new industries, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen the district's economy.

The park's development is being undertaken by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT), which manages several industrial hubs across the state. Officials mentioned that this project would include dedicated roads, power and water connections, and drainage systems to ensure a ready-to-occupy environment for upcoming industries. The chief minister's office informed that the required land acquisition and groundwork are already in progress and construction is being carried out in phases.

Dharmapuri has long been seeking an industrial estate to boost local employment and prevent migration to neighbouring districts. Local representatives had earlier urged the state to expedite the project, citing its potential to attract small and medium enterprises. The establishment of the SIPCOT park and improved transport facilities are expected to bring long-term economic stability to the district.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by state ministers, senior government officials, and district administrators during the inspection. They reviewed progress on-site and interacted with engineers and contractors to assess construction quality and timelines.
