During a recent review meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure timely completion of Amaravati's construction and avoid further delays. He asked for faster progress on infrastructure, landscaping, and returnable plot registrations for farmers who gave land under the pooling scheme. Officials informed that registrations for 2,471 farmers are still pending. Naidu instructed that reviews would be held every 15 days to track progress, stressing that rain-related delays must be recovered and coordination with key departments should continue smoothly.
Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu recently reviewed the progress of the Amaravati capital project and instructed officials to speed up ongoing construction works without compromising on quality. He emphasised the need to stick to planned timelines and directed departments to work in close coordination to ensure steady progress.
During the meeting, Naidu took updates on the status of various government and administrative buildings under construction, the mobilisation of labour, and the procurement of essential materials and machinery. He told officials that despite the recent rainfall affecting the pace of work, departments should make up for the time lost and complete each stage as per schedule.
He asked officials to coordinate with the Mines Department to maintain a continuous supply of gravel and other construction materials needed for the base structure. Naidu reiterated that farmers who had contributed their land through the land-pooling scheme should not face any delay in receiving their returnable plots. Officials briefed him that registrations for 2,471 farmers are still pending and are being processed in phases.
Naidu also discussed beautification, green cover expansion, and cleanliness drives in the capital region, adding that Amaravati should be developed as a planned, eco-friendly city with well-designed roads, open spaces, and public amenities. He said that the development of high-rise buildings will help enhance the capital's skyline and overall urban character.
The Chief Minister instructed that review meetings should be held every fifteen days to track the progress of construction, identify obstacles, and ensure better coordination among departments and contractors. He also called for transparency in work progress and asked officials to ensure that all infrastructure projects meet the required quality standards.
The Amaravati capital project has witnessed multiple delays since its inception. After the state's bifurcation in 2014, Amaravati was designated as the capital, and a large-scale land-pooling scheme was introduced. Thousands of farmers gave their land in exchange for developed plots and infrastructure benefits. However, the project slowed down when a subsequent government proposed a three-capital model, resulting in a halt to several works. Since Naidu's return to office, the state has resumed active development in the capital region, focusing on completing previously stalled projects and restoring confidence among farmers and investors.
With the renewed review mechanism and strict monitoring plan, the state government aims to put Amaravati's construction back on schedule and regain lost momentum.
