The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced the addition of a fifth train on the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro network, beginning operation from the start of November. The new train will reduce peak-hour intervals from about 19 minutes to 15 minutes, while the first and last train timings from both terminals R V Road and Bommasandra will stay the same. The move aims to improve passenger convenience, ease crowding, and make daily travel on this route more reliable without changing existing schedules.

BMRCL stated that this step is expected to make the Yellow Line more dependable and comfortable for passengers who rely on it for daily travel. The corporation mentioned that the first and last train timings from R V Road and Bommasandra terminals will remain unchanged, ensuring that commuters do not need to adjust their regular travel schedules. The operator also encouraged passengers to take note of the revised intervals and plan their trips accordingly.
The Yellow Line, which connects R V Road in South Bengaluru to Bommasandra, passes through several key residential and industrial areas. Bommasandra, in particular, serves as an important employment hub, drawing thousands of commuters daily. The new addition is likely to ease congestion during morning and evening rush hours, especially at major stations like HSR Layout, Electronic City, and Bommanahalli.
BMRCL has been gradually working on improving service capacity across the network. Similar frequency upgrades have been carried out in the past on other metro corridors such as the Purple Line and Green Line to handle rising passenger volumes. The addition of the fifth train on the Yellow Line continues this effort to strengthen operational efficiency and enhance the travel experience for commuters.
The announcement was made around the time of Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations, which also marked a symbolic milestone in the state's infrastructure growth. The metro's management said the new service reflects its ongoing commitment to providing smoother, more punctual, and reliable transport for the city's growing population.
Metro ridership in Bengaluru has steadily increased over the past year, driven by the opening of new stretches and the city's expanding workforce. With the introduction of this additional train, BMRCL expects the Yellow Line to handle higher passenger volumes more comfortably and encourage more residents to opt for public transport over private vehicles.
