The Noida International Airport at Jewar is poised to benefit from a multi-modal access network combining road, rail and bus links, according to the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The airport, already linked to the Yamuna Expressway, will also connect to the DelhiMumbai Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. A detailed project report has been approved for a rail corridor and a new station on the high-speed DelhiVaranasi line is being included. Bus and electric-bus services will link nearby cities and metro networks, while ride-hailing and car rental ties are in place. Phase 1 will be on 1,334 ha with one terminal and capacity for about 12 million passengers annually, developing over four phases to 5,000 ha and up to 300 million passengers one day.
The Government of Uttar Pradesh has stated that the Noida International Airport (Jewar) will be accessible by road, rail and bus networks in a concerted effort to ensure fast, safe and sustainable access for passengers, tourists and industry.
The airport is already directly connected to the Yamuna Expressway. In addition, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (Ballabhgarh Link) will further improve access from Haryana and western India. Work is reportedly advancing on linking the airport with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, giving direct routes to Ghaziabad, Meerut, Palwal and Sonipat.
On the industrial and cargo side, the north and east access roads are nearly ready. A 60-metre-wide service road in Sector 28 now connects the airport site to the Yamuna Expressway for local movements.
In rail connectivity, the state government has approved the detailed project report for the Delhi-Jewar RRTS corridor. The Ministry of Railways is preparing to connect the airport with the Chola-Rundhi rail line, and a new Jewar station has been included on the high-speed Delhi?Varanasi corridor.
On the public-transport front, an agreement with the Uttar Pradesh State Roadways Corporation will link the airport to surrounding cities and metro networks. Interstate bus services with Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi and Rajasthan are also planned. Furthermore, 500 electric buses jointly managed by the authorities at Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna corridor will offer green and comfortable transit for passengers.
For last-mile connectivity, cab and car-rental services are ready. The airport has partnered with Mahindra Logistics to introduce a dedicated airport-branded cab service, and ride-hailing companies such as Uber, Rapido and MakeMyTrip will provide on-demand services; Ola is in final stages of partnership. Passengers will be able to book, check fares and track vehicles via mobile apps, and multiple operators will offer self-drive and chauffeur-driven car-rental options.
In its initial phase the green-field airport will cover about 1,334 hectares, with one runway and one terminal building designed to handle 12 million passengers annually. Over the longer term, development will take place in four phases across more than 5,000 hectares, with five runways and annual passenger capacity of 300 million.
The connectivity push comes against the backdrop of previous concerns around access. External sources note that the airport is located roughly 75 km from Delhi and earlier analyses emphasised the need for integrated public-transport links to assure commercial viability.
