The International Road Federation (IRF) has expressed strong support for the governments decision to introduce QR codes on all major road projects. The initiative, announced by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and quality control in road construction. The IRF described this move as a major step towards technology-driven governance that ensures real-time monitoring and long-term sustainability of road infrastructure. The organisation also appreciated the ministrys commitment to closely track the initiative's progress.

The International Road Federation (IRF), a global road safety organisation, has welcomed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' recent decision to introduce QR codes on every major road project to improve quality and transparency. The move, announced by Minister Nitin Gadkari earlier this week, has been described by the IRF as a strong step towards participatory and transparent governance.

K. K. Kapila, President Emeritus of the IRF, said that the introduction of QR codes for monitoring the quality of Indian roads marks a significant milestone in building a more transparent and technology-oriented infrastructure management system. He noted that this initiative represents a shift towards accountability and efficiency in the country?s road development process.

Kapila explained that the use of QR codes would enable real-time tracking of road construction and maintenance work, helping ensure durability, safety, and sustainability of India?s expanding road network. He added that this approach will support long-term quality assurance and benefit both citizens and the economy through improved infrastructure outcomes.

The IRF also commended Uma Shankar, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, for underlining the importance of the initiative and assuring that its implementation will be closely monitored. The organisation believes that the ministry?s proactive role reflects a firm commitment to strengthening transparency and innovation in infrastructure governance.
