Synopsis

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured multiple power infrastructure contracts in Saudi Arabia valued between INR 2,500 crore and INR 5,000 crore. The orders include building a gas-insulated substation and developing over 420 km of overhead transmission lines. These projects are part of Saudi Arabia's National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), which aims to modernize and strengthen the national electricity grid to integrate renewable power. The development also reinforces L&T's growing presence in the Middle East's power transmission sector.

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received new power transmission and distribution orders in Saudi Arabia, with a combined value estimated between INR 2,500 crore and INR 5,000 crore. The company informed the BSE that these projects mark another important milestone in its overseas power infrastructure portfolio.

One of the new contracts involves the construction of a gas-insulated substation, which will enhance grid reliability and ensure efficient power delivery across the region. The second set of contracts focuses on building overhead transmission links covering more than 420 kilometres. These transmission lines are expected to improve connectivity within the national grid and support the expansion of renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia.

The contracts are part of the National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP), a key government initiative aimed at boosting renewable energy capacity and modernizing Saudi Arabia's power infrastructure. The programme focuses on developing a more flexible and reliable transmission network that can handle the rising share of clean energy. According to industry officials, strengthening the grid is essential for maintaining stable power supply as renewable generation increases.

L&T's Power Transmission & Distribution business has maintained a strong presence across the Middle East, executing several large-scale substation and transmission line projects in recent years. The new Saudi orders add to the company's growing list of international projects in the region, reflecting its expertise in delivering complex engineering and construction solutions.

With these new contracts, L&T continues to play a significant role in supporting Saudi Arabia's broader goal of diversifying its energy mix and reducing dependence on conventional power sources. The projects are also expected to contribute to the country's ongoing grid expansion and modernization efforts, aligning with its long-term Vision 2030 objectives.

L&T, headquartered in Mumbai, is a USD 30 billion Indian multinational engaged in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, hi-tech manufacturing, and services. The company operates across multiple sectors and geographies, including energy, infrastructure, heavy engineering, and information technology.
