The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has demolished several illegal colonies near Noida International Airport, reclaiming 155 acres of land valued at about INR 2,500 crore. The colonies, promoted under names like Aeronest Coloniser, Shri Radha Gauri Enclave and Rudra Properties, were spread across Jhajhar and Kakod in Bulandshahr. FIRs are being lodged against those involved. This is part of a series of recent actions, including drives that freed land worth INR 226 crore in Jewar Bangar and Mewla Gopalgarh, and INR 407 crore in villages where projects were marketed with misleading names.
The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has cleared 155 acres of encroached land valued at around INR 2,500 crore near Noida International Airport in Bulandshahr. The demolition targeted colonies developed without approvals, many of which were marketed to buyers as "prime airport plots."
Colonies that faced demolition include Aeronest Coloniser in Jhajhar and Shri Radha Gauri Enclave and Rudra Properties in Kakod. The action was led by YEIDA's enforcement team under Senior Officer on Special Duty Shailendra Kumar Singh. FIRs are being registered against developers behind these illegal colonies, and similar operations are planned in other areas including Khair tehsil of Aligarh, Mathura, and Bulandshahr.
YEIDA's jurisdiction covers six districts Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Hathras, Aligarh, Mathura, and Agra. With projects such as the Noida International Airport, Film City, a Logistics Park, and a Heritage City in progress, the area has seen a sharp rise in land demand. This has also led to increased instances of illegal plotting and unauthorised colonies being sold under attractive names.
Last week, YEIDA cleared 27 acres of illegal development worth INR 226 crore in Jewar Bangar and Mewla Gopalgarh. A few months earlier, in May, the authority freed 67 acres valued at more than INR 407 crore in Tappal, Sirsedhi, and Helupur villages. Colonies there were marketed under names like Airport City, Cherry Buildcon, Zammen Expert, Aerocity Project, and MRJK Township. FIRs were filed against 57 people in that drive.
Over the past three years, YEIDA has carried out 25 major demolition drives, freeing land worth nearly INR 2,500 crore from illegal possession. The authority has consistently stated that buyers must verify land records and project approvals directly with YEIDA before investing. Officials also cautioned that promotional offers such as free cab rides to project sites or discounted bookings should not be mistaken for approvals.
YEIDA's CEO, Rakesh Kumar Singh, reiterated that no one is allowed to sell or purchase land that falls under notified areas without proper clearance from the authority. Officials emphasised that genuine land details can only be confirmed through YEIDA, and buyers should avoid relying solely on brokers or developers.
