Allcargo Supply Chain, part of Allcargo Logistics, has recently opened a logistics park in Panapakkam, located near Chennai. This new facility adds to the company's growing network in southern India, complementing its existing operations in Bengaluru and an upcoming site in Hyderabad.
The Panapakkam logistics park covers 275,000 square feet and is equipped with 30 truck bays, enabling the management of over 300 vehicles per day. The facility is designed to handle a throughput of about 60,000 tonnes per month. It features 32 docks with 16 dock levellers, racking capacity up to ground plus eight levels, and a 5,000 square foot mezzanine floor with client office space.
Strategically situated at the intersection of National Highway 76 and State Highway 50, the park offers easy access to key industrial zones such as Red Hills, Chennai Port, Sri City, Sriperumbudur, and Oragadam. This location is expected to enhance distribution efficiency for sectors including automobiles, e-commerce, and consumer durables, with a significant emphasis on the automobile sector.
The facility is anticipated to employ approximately 400 contractual workers monthly, with nearly 95% being blue-collar employees from the local region. In line with sustainable practices, the park incorporates a solar-ready rooftop, LED lighting, solar-powered streetlights, rainwater harvesting, sewage treatment plant water recycling, and stormwater drains designed using long-term rainfall data. Safety features include dock levellers, a secure perimeter wall, fire hydrants, and sprinkler systems.
This development aligns with Allcargo Supply Chain's broader strategy to expand its logistics network across India. The company operates logistics parks in various locations, including Farukhnagar (Gurugram), Nagpur, Guwahati, Bhiwandi (Mumbai), Indore, and Vijayawada. The Panapakkam facility is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing the company's service offerings in the southern region.
