Global logistics company DP World has reported that its Mundra International Container terminal achieved a record throughput of 142,273 TEUs in August 2025, the highest monthly volume since its operations began. The terminal's direct shipping links with major global markets, strong infrastructure, and recent sustainability measures have supported this growth. With a long quay, container freight station, rail connectivity, and fully electric handling equipment, DP World Mundra continues to strengthen India's role in international trade.
Global logistics company DP World announced earlier this week that its Mundra International Container terminal reached a new benchmark by handling 142,273 TEUs in August 2025, the highest monthly volume ever achieved at the facility. This milestone reflects growing trade activity and the terminal's improved operational capacity. The terminal maintains direct connections with major markets across the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the United States, making it a crucial gateway for India's trade network.
Alok Mishra, CEO of Ports & Terminals at DP World Mundra, said the achievement was the result of steady efforts to improve efficiency and expand trade connectivity. He added that the facility has remained a key hub for regional trade flows by focusing on reliable services, sustainable practices, and advanced infrastructure.
The terminal is supported by a 632-metre quay and a deep draft, which allow it to handle large vessels. It also has a 50-acre Container Freight Station and dedicated rail connectivity within the terminal, ensuring smooth and efficient cargo movement.
As part of its sustainability focus, DP World Mundra has converted all container handling equipment, forklifts, and light vehicles to electric power. This transition has cut diesel consumption significantly and reduced annual carbon emissions, strengthening the company's push toward cleaner port operations.
In the past year, DP World has consistently invested in its Indian operations, with Mundra being one of its flagship terminals. Continuous upgrades to infrastructure and adoption of electric equipment have laid the foundation for this record, underlining Mundra's growing role in supporting India's trade with global markets.
