The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised construction in the Ghansoli division earlier this week. Despite prior notices served by the encroachment department, the concerned property owner had ignored the warnings and continued illegal construction work. Acting under the directives of Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, the NMMC team, supported by senior officials, executed the clearance operation with police assistance. The civic body confirmed that similar actions would continue across other areas as well.

The operation targeted an illegal construction by homeowner Mr Kushalchand Gaur, residing at NG Grand Plaza, Room No. 502, Plot No. 09, Sector 11, Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai. He had allegedly built additional brick structures within the society premises without obtaining prior permission or occupancy certificate approval from the municipal authority. Despite being served a notice under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, the owner failed to comply and continued with the unauthorised construction.
Consequently, the NMMC undertook the demolition drive and removed the illegal extension with the help of five workers and two trucks. Officials from the Ghansoli division, along with the encroachment department team and police personnel, were present during the operation to ensure smooth execution.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to curbing illegal constructions across the city. Officials emphasised that strict and consistent action would be taken against individuals violating building regulations or engaging in unauthorised construction activities. The civic body further indicated that such encroachment removal drives will continue to be conducted with greater intensity to uphold lawful urban development standards in Navi Mumbai.
