He also sought central approval to establish an AIIMS at Kinaloor in Kozhikode and discussed the state's financial challenges, requesting higher borrowing limits to strengthen fiscal stability. The visit highlighted ongoing disagreements with the Centre over disaster funding and included discussions with senior Union ministers on development and administrative issues. The meetings underscore Kerala's focus on urgent reconstruction, healthcare, and fiscal management.

Kerala Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital to address key issues affecting the state. A major focus of the discussion was the immediate release of over INR 2,220 crore from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) for reconstruction work in Wayanad, which suffered severe damage and casualties during last year's landslides. Vijayan emphasized the urgency of the funds to support rebuilding homes, roads, and essential infrastructure in the affected areas.

The Chief Minister also pressed for approval to establish an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kinaloor in Kozhikode. The AIIMS project has been a long-standing demand of the state to improve healthcare access, medical education, and specialized treatment for residents in northern Kerala.

Vijayan discussed Kerala's financial situation, pointing out challenges linked to revenue constraints and expenditures. He requested an increase in the state's borrowing limits to help strengthen fiscal management and ensure the continuity of essential development projects. These issues reflect broader concerns about the state's economic stability and capacity to fund public services without delay.

The meeting also highlighted ongoing differences between Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front and the BJP-led central government over allocation of funds for Wayanad relief works. The landslides had caused substantial loss of life and property, making timely intervention critical for both reconstruction and local livelihoods.

During his visit, Vijayan held separate meetings with key Union ministers, including Amit Shah, J P Nadda, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Nitin Gadkari, to discuss various developmental and administrative matters. He shared a photograph of his discussion with the prime minister on his social media handle, reflecting transparency and public engagement in these discussions.
