Dharampal Satyapal Group (DS Group), a leading FMCG and multi-business corporation, has recently been recognized as Water Positive by GRIHA, a joint initiative of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and TERI. The certification confirms a Water Positivity Index of 1.80, placing DS Group among a few corporates in India achieving such high standards. The assessment, conducted over two-and-a-half years, covered 30 business locations nationwide.
The group's interventions created a water storage potential of 66 Lakh KL. DS Group's business divisions include Mouth Freshener, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, and Agriculture. The company has adopted a holistic approach combining community-focused CSR efforts with in-house operational efficiencies. These efforts include rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, recharge wells, water-efficient fixtures, and ecological restoration projects. Such measures reduce dependency on freshwater and strengthen water security in surrounding communities.
Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman of DS Group, emphasized that global water demand is projected to exceed supply by 40% by 2030, making water stewardship a critical priority. He highlighted that DS Group has been implementing measures to manage water responsibly, improve efficiency, conserve resources, and replenish water sources. He also noted that the company's initiatives align with global sustainability dialogues, such as those expected at COP30, and reflect DS Group's philosophy of permanent responsibility towards sustainability and resilience for future generations.
Sanjay Seth, VP and CEO of GRIHA Council and Senior Director at TERI, stated that achieving Water Positive certification demonstrates strong industry leadership and showcases how sustainability, productivity, and profitability can be integrated.
