Synopsis

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is set to launch a mobile application to simplify e-khata submissions for property owners, complementing the existing online and Bengaluru One centres. The app will allow property owners and their authorised representatives to submit applications directly using essential documents such as property sale deed, tax receipts, Aadhaar number, encumbrance certificate, Bescom bill, and property photographs. Since October last year, around 7.5 lakh final e-khatas have been issued, reflecting growing adoption of digital property management in Bengaluru.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is preparing to roll out a mobile application for e-khata submissions, aiming to make property documentation more convenient and accessible. This move builds on the current online platform and Bengaluru One centres, which have been handling e-khata applications over the past year. The mobile app is expected to be operational within the next ten days, enabling property owners and their authorised representatives to submit applications directly through their smartphones.

Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner of Revenue at GBA, explained that the app is an adaptation of the existing web platform, and there are no changes to the underlying software. Property owners seeking a final e-khata will need to provide key documents, including the property sale deed number, property tax receipt, Aadhaar number, mobile number, encumbrance certificate (Form-15), property photograph, property location details, and Bescom bill number.

The existing web platform processes an average of 2,000 to 3,000 applications daily. Officials expect the mobile app to further boost participation and improve convenience. Since October last year, about 7.59 lakh final e-khatas have been issued. Bengaluru has roughly 25 lakh properties, with over 24 lakh draft e-khatas uploaded online, and more than 15 lakh of these drafts have been downloaded by property owners.

The initiative reflects a steady shift toward digital property management in Bengaluru. It aims to reduce the need for in-person visits, enhance transparency, and make the process more user-friendly. By combining existing digital infrastructure with mobile access, the GBA hopes to simplify the process of acquiring final e-khatas for residents across the city.
