Spanning approximately 10,500 sq meters and valued at about INR 150 crore, the encroached land had buildings on Khasra numbers 406, 407, 408, and 409 in Sector 6. Despite resistance from occupants, the operation was completed successfully. The reclaimed area is now being planned for residential and commercial development, with proposals under review by the LDA planning section.
The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) recently undertook a demolition drive in Gomtinagar Extension, clearing around 18 unauthorized constructions. The operation recovered roughly 10,500 sq meters of land, estimated at about INR 150 crore. This land had been acquired in 2000 under the Amar Shaheed Path-Gomtinagar Extension scheme, aimed at developing the area for urban infrastructure and planned growth.
Officials noted that several individuals had illegally occupied portions of the land over the years and had constructed buildings on Khasra numbers 406, 407, 408, and 409 in Sector 6. The encroachments were identified through a survey commissioned by LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar, who instructed that the land be cleared promptly.
A joint team from the acquisition and enforcement sections, with police support, carried out the demolition. Although some illegal occupants attempted to resist the action, the operation proceeded without major disruption. Officials emphasized that the cleared land will now be developed into residential and commercial plots. The planning section of LDA is reviewing proposals to ensure the land is utilized efficiently and in line with urban development plans.
This demolition drive follows earlier efforts by LDA to reclaim encroached land in other parts of Lucknow, reinforcing the authority's focus on organized urban development. The reclaimed plots are expected to contribute to better infrastructure planning and enhanced availability of land for legitimate residential and commercial purposes.
