Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has introduced a digital system so that applicants seeking Building Map No Objection Certificates can receive them through WhatsApp. The new arrangement uses the authority's Enterprise Resource Planning system to coordinate approvals and communicate with multiple departments, reducing traditional delays. Alongside this, the LDA has digitised land use verification, enabling prospective land buyers in Lucknow to check land status online by submitting relevant documents and location data.
LDA launched a digital process under the leadership of its vice-chairman, Prathamesh Kumar, which enables applicants to obtain all necessary NOCs for building map approvals directly on their WhatsApp number. Previously, applicants were required to visit several departments and often wait for several months for residential or commercial building map clearances. Under the new system, once an application is submitted, the LDA's ERP system initiates the NOC procedure. When approvals are granted, the NOCs are automatically sent via WhatsApp.
The LDA's responsibilities include issuing its own NOCs - for matters such as Nazul, Improvement Trust, Ceiling, Acquisition and Land Use - and coordinating with the Tehsil and Jal Kal departments to issue their NOCs directly to applicants, minimising unnecessary delays and multiple trips. In addition, the LDA has digitised the verification of land use details: those intending to purchase land can now ascertain its status online by registering on the LDA's website and submitting ownership documentation, khasra details and location information.
Applicants will no longer have to navigate multiple offices or endure long waiting periods. The coordination among different departments, combined with digital verification of land use, should streamline land transactions and building permissions. This reform is likely to reduce delays, increase efficiency and enhance accountability in the authority's operations.
