Synopsis

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) carried out a demolition drive in the Koparkhairane division after property owners ignored prior notices. The operation, led under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and senior officials, targeted unauthorised construction linked to Rajpal Hospital in Sector 10. A partial demolition was conducted, and a penalty of INR 50,000 was imposed. The civic body emphasised that strict action against unauthorised developments would continue across the city.

The encroachment department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation initiated a demolition operation in Koparkhairane division earlier this week after the concerned parties failed to respond to notices. Acting under the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde, and with guidance from Additional Commissioner (II) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the civic team executed the clearance action.

Within the Koparkhairane jurisdiction, a notice had been issued under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, to Rajpal Hospital operated by Mr Akash Nandlal Rajpal on Plot No. 13, Sector 10. Despite the notice, unauthorised construction work continued, prompting the civic body to undertake partial demolition. Alongside the action, a fine of INR 50,000 was recovered from the violators.

The demolition campaign was coordinated by Assistant Commissioner Bharat Dhandhe and Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre, supported by other officials and municipal police personnel. The civic team deployed four labourers, two electronic hammers, a pickup van, and one JCB machine for the drive.

Officials confirmed that similar anti-encroachment operations will be intensified across Navi Mumbai to curb unauthorised construction activities.

The operation involved coordinated efforts from senior officials, engineers, workers, and police support. Authorities indicated that such actions would continue with greater intensity to safeguard urban planning norms and maintain discipline in civic development.
