Gurugram's planning authorities have intensified action against illegal colonies and unauthorised structures, demolishing violations in Palam Vihar, Carterpuri, Mubarikpur, and Iqbalpur. In Palam Vihar, a departmental store operating in a stilt parking area was sealed, while Carterpuri saw the removal of illegal boundary walls, roads, and kiosks linked to unauthorised plot sales. Officials are also addressing breaches within licensed housing societies, where some RWAs have altered common areas in violation of the Haryana Apartment Ownership Act. Repeat offenders may face administrator appointments. The crackdown is part of a wider enforcement push, including measures against forest land encroachments and misuse of residential properties.
Gurugram's planning authorities have recently carried out a series of demolitions targeting illegal colonies and unauthorised structures across multiple areas. In Palam Vihar, officials sealed a departmental store that had been set up in the stilt parking area of a licensed housing society, in violation of approved building use. Carterpuri saw the removal of boundary walls, damp proof courses, road networks, and kiosks used for illegal plot sales.
Smaller unauthorised settlements in Mubarikpur and Iqbalpur were also cleared as part of the same drive. These actions form part of a sustained enforcement push aimed at curbing unplanned construction and protecting civic infrastructure.
The crackdown has also brought attention to violations within licensed group housing societies. Authorities have received complaints about Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) making unauthorised changes to common areas, sometimes for personal gain or for community structures such as temples. These activities breach the Haryana Apartment Ownership Act and building regulations.
The matter has been taken up by the deputy commissioner's task force, and officials are considering appointing administrators in cases where RWAs repeatedly ignore rules. This move follows other recent enforcement measures across Gurugram, including actions against encroachments on forest land and commercial misuse of residential properties.
