Synopsis

HYDRAA has reclaimed around 2,000 square yards of land in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, valued at nearly INR 100 crore, after a prolonged encroachment dispute. The land, originally designated for community use, had been occupied for over two decades under false documentation. Following a grievance lodged through HYDRAA's Prajavani forum and a High Court ruling, the property was restored for public utility purposes, paving the way for construction of a Deputy Commissioner of Police office.

HYDRAA has successfully taken back close to 2,000 square yards of prime land in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, carrying an estimated value of INR 100 crore. The plot, belonging to the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society, had been illegally occupied for more than twenty years. The encroacher had created fabricated documentation, assigned a false house number to the property, and established a commercial plant nursery on the site.

The housing society had made repeated appeals over the years to recover the land, with earlier attempts by GHMC proving unsuccessful. The matter gained momentum when the society filed a formal grievance through HYDRAA's Prajavani forum. Upon review, HYDRAA's verification confirmed that the land was intended exclusively for community use. A legal challenge followed, and the High Court ultimately rejected the encroacher's plea, which cleared the way for administrative intervention.

Once judicial clearance was obtained, HYDRAA carried out a coordinated operation to remove the encroachment. Officials gave the nursery operators sufficient time to shift plants and equipment before demolishing unauthorised structures. Following the clearance, boundary markings and signboards were installed, declaring the land officially restored to public ownership. The Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society expressed relief that a legal battle spanning more than two decades had finally been resolved.

Authorities have indicated that the land is now reserved for the establishment of a Deputy Commissioner of Police office. Once all statutory approvals and development plans are completed, the site will serve as a vital piece of civic infrastructure for the locality.

The successful reclamation not only secures high-value urban land for public use but also demonstrates how civic participation through platforms like Prajavani can influence outcomes. With the land now reserved for a law enforcement facility, the development promises long-term benefits for the community while setting a precedent for handling similar disputes across Hyderabad.
