The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has reclaimed 16,000 sq yards of prime government land worth about INR 400 crore in Madhapur, near the Hitex arch. The land, encroached for over a decade, included parks and road areas from a 22.2-acre layout approved in 1995 and later regularized. Acting on citizen complaints via its Prajavani platform, HYDRAA cleared illegal structures, including a restaurant and hoardings, freeing two public parks, 5,000 sq yards of road, and additional government land. Fencing and signage have been installed to prevent re-encroachment, while a police case has been filed against the main offender.
The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) recently took action to reclaim a 16,000 square yard parcel of prime government land in Madhapur, Hyderabad, estimated at around INR 400 crore. This area, located near the Hitex arch in Jubilee Enclave, had been illegally occupied for more than a decade.
The reclamation followed repeated complaints from local residents, which were submitted through HYDRAA's Prajavani initiative. Residents had consistently raised concerns about illegal constructions on park areas, roadways, and public land, questioning the legal validity of transfers that had taken place in the past. The reclaimed land is part of a 22.2-acre layout approved in 1995 and later regularized in 2006, comprising around 100 residential plots and four parks. The parks had been formally handed over to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) through gift deeds, but encroachments over the years had limited public access and use.
During the reclamation process, HYDRAA removed restaurant structure and advertising hoardings. This operation freed two public parks, restored roughly 5,000 square yards of road area, and recovered about 300 square yards of additional government land. The agency has since installed fencing and signage to secure the land and prevent future encroachments.
In addition, a police case has been registered against Jaihind Reddy for trespassing and violating public property laws. Authorities are continuing to investigate the extent of the encroachment, the individuals involved, and the structures built on the site. The restoration of these spaces has been welcomed by local residents, as it revives public access to roads, parks, and other communal facilities that had been obstructed for years.
