Jupiter International Ltd. announced on Thursday that it has entered into an agreement with the Maharashtra government to establish a new integrated solar manufacturing facility in Nagpur. The project, planned for the Butibori industrial area, represents a significant step for the company, with a proposed investment of approximately INR 10,900 crore.
The new plant is designed to cover the entire solar value chain, from wafer manufacturing to advanced solar cell and module production. This vertical integration will significantly expand Jupiter International's manufacturing capabilities, which currently include two units in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, with an installed capacity of 1 GW.
The company's managing director, Alok Garodia, stated that the investment demonstrates their long-term commitment to building India's renewable energy future through technology, scale, and regional empowerment, adding that they are grateful for the Maharashtra government's continued support.
The project is poised to strengthen the company's position in the renewable energy sector and align with India's broader goals of boosting domestic solar manufacturing. By establishing a fully integrated facility, Jupiter International aims to enhance its efficiency and reduce reliance on external suppliers, ensuring a more streamlined and secure supply chain for its products.
