Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. has won a significant contract worth INR 49 crore to supply 1,884 off-grid solar water pumping systems to farmers in Maharashtra. The project, awarded by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL), falls under the PM-KUSUM B scheme, a central government initiative aimed at providing clean, reliable irrigation solutions to the agricultural sector. The agreement covers the entire process, from manufacturing and installation to a five-year warranty and a remote monitoring system, positioning Crompton to help meet India's growing demand for sustainable agricultural technology and reinforce its market leadership.

Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd., a leading player in India's consumer electricals and pumps sector, has announced a major new contract to supply solar water pumps to farmers in Maharashtra. The company secured a INR 49 crore order from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd. (MSEDCL) to provide 1,884 off-grid DC Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping Systems (SPWPS) under the state's "Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump" Yojana, which is a component of the central government's PM-KUSUM B scheme.

This initiative is part of a larger national effort to boost agricultural productivity by offering a sustainable alternative to diesel-powered pumps, which are both costly and polluting. Under the PM-KUSUM scheme, the government aims to add a solar capacity of about 34,800 MW by March 2026, with a strong focus on installing standalone solar pumps. This creates a significant market for manufacturers like Crompton, who compete with other key players such as Shakti Pumps, Tata Power Solar, and C.R.I. Pumps.

Crompton's project scope is comprehensive, covering the entire lifecycle of the pumping systems from design and manufacturing to installation and commissioning. Each unit will also come with a five-year warranty, as well as repair and maintenance services. To ensure reliable performance in off-grid regions, the systems will be equipped with an advanced remote monitoring system (RMS). The company has also set up district-level service centers and a bilingual helpline to provide ongoing support to farmers.

According to a company statement, the contract reinforces Crompton?s long-standing commitment to delivering durable and energy-efficient solutions. Mr. Rajat Chopra, Crompton?s Business Head for Home Electricals & Pumps, stated that the project "strengthens our commitment to providing farmers with solutions that are not only efficient and durable but also sustainable for the long term." This latest deal positions Crompton to further capitalize on the rising demand for green energy solutions in a sector that remains a cornerstone of the Indian economy.
